Jo @joannaallenstudio is a renowned artist and printmaker and very well known in Derbyshire and beyond. She is a both a member of the Peak District Artisans, and Gallery in her home town New Mills. She offers classes and printmaking workshops from her home studio either one to one or in groups.
Recurring themes in her work include strange little birds, magical gardens and romantic florals – often inspired by books she read as a child:
The starting point for all her designs is her mixed media paintings and coloured etchings, collagraphs and monoprints. Her background is in textile design and focuses on both the decorative and romantic. She likes to layer watercolours, pastels, salt and bleach over her prints to create an ethereal atmosphere, making each print totally unique. Selected artworks also inspire a range of exquisite crepe de chine scarves.
